Introducing…Cwfen

Cwfen (‘coven’) are four witches brewing up a potent cauldron of gothic post-punk doom metal. They’ve been building up a following with their live performances over the last year and ‘Reliks’ is the band’s debut single. The quartet are based in Glasgow and carefully treads between 4AD shoegaze and Chelsea Wolfe doom-rock. Cwfen are dark, heavy and expansive. Vocalist Agnes Alder is a particular highlight as her vocal intensity and range cross the universe from haunted rage to comfortably numb.

‘Reliks’ explores the idea of having your lifelong belief systems unravel as you face your end. Cwfen says the song explores a theme of fragmentation – both physically and emotionally. As the end of the song looms, fear sets in and the huge guitars and vocal intensity ramp up for a cinematic and haunting climax,
