HAAi turns her new album ‘HUMANiSE’ into a superb live audio visual performance

HAAi’s sophomore album ‘HUMANiSE’ comes out on 10th October, but fans of the electronic artist can get a 46-minute preview of the album as part of a live album performance. As someone new to London-based HAAi’s music, this is a fantastic introduction to an artist who is exploring music and visual media. The album explores what it means to be human in the digital age. With AI threats, no regulation, and lots of moral decisions to be made, what does society look like in the future?

For HAAI, society is all about collaboration and community. On her new album, Jon Hopskins, Alexis Taylor, Obi Franky, KAM-BU, Trans Voices, and Kaiden Ford all contribute. The sound is a mixture of vocal layers, heavy splicing, electronic beats and a merger of natural and synthesised noises. The live album performance takes place in an art installation of a ’90s office. HAAi wanders around old computers, CRT monitors, printers, ring binders, landlines, and bundles of A4 paper. It’s a fun time capsule to remember, and with lots of flashing lights, we get a muted techno world of office-based yesteryear. What I love most about the sound is how hypnotically throbbing it is. Be it the synths, the bass, the trickling effects, or the vocal samples – the whole album pulsates like a numb heart.

‘HUMANiSE’ is out on 10th October and is available for pre-order. Enjoy the fantastic album live performance to whet your appetite.
