Son Lux announces new album ‘Out Into’

Their first studio album since scoring Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.

Whilst each member of Son Lux has been busy with solo projects or film scores, the trio have announced their new album ‘Out Into’. Due for release on 18th September, it’ll feature songs built from spontaneous improvisation and sparks of new songs that were captured on tape and then iterated upon.

For Son Lux’s nonth album (although the trio formed at album four), they wanted to go with what Ryan Lott describes as “first-thought-best-thought” music. Since scoring for cinema requires exacting, meticulous precision, Ryan states the band yearned for immediate emotion and more direct approaches. Expect big beats, grooving bass, more lyrics than ever before, and a world without quantisation. The trio feel that in a world full of AI slop, being able to “hear the hand” is more important than ever.

‘Endlessly’ is the lead single, and it uses big synth stabs, trickle hip-hop beats, and a vocal that rises in intensity across the song. It feels quintessential Son Lux, and more in tune with some of their mid-2010’s sound when Rafiq Bahtia and Ian Chang joined Ryan to form the project into a trio. Ian Change says it best: “We always want to walk that line of strangeness and familiarity…” and this single does perfectly.

‘Endlessly’ is out now. You can pre-order ‘Out Into’ on Bandcamp. For more information about the band and their projects, visit Son Lux’s website.
