Bridging the gap between medicine and healing music, and indie folk, Christa Wells focuses on providing a safe space for emotional release, letting go, and regeneration. Christa runs workshops to help others find their inner voice through creativity, and she walks the walk with her own beautiful music. The Nashville-based creative has been busy working on a collection of tracks called the Sanctuary Songs Series. The first of these to be recorded and released is “I’m Okay”.
The piano-led folk song features Nashville’s LGBTQIA+ choir Major Minors, who join Christa for the final minute to create a groundswell of warmth, repeating the track title over and over. Every sound has a light haze to it, and a blanket-like cosy feel. Well’s vocals are soft and inviting, declaring “In this moment. In this body. I’m okay.” Even Major Minors’ contribution drifts across your speakers like a ray of early spring sunshine. The track filters out into a distant mantra, and it left me feeling fuzzy inside
‘I’m Okay’ is out now. For more information about future singles and other projects following her signing to the excellent Paper Garden Records, visit Christa Wells’ website. There is a lovely short Instagram reel where Christa explains the intent of the track, too.
