Introducing… Eva Lunny

Eva Lunny is a UK-based ambient harpist, inspired by Laraaji, Dorothy Ashby, and Alice Coltraine. Following her debut album ‘Sonics & Meditations’ in 2023, Eva is back with brand new experimental music label Ostara Recordings for her new album ‘Departure’. Lunny started to learn the harp at age 11, initially with Paraguayan, folk and classical music. It wasn’t until Eva discovered the pickup mic that she found her signature spacey sound.

Using celestial and glacial synths full of blustery aural winds and numbing hues, Eva Lunny then adds her harp underneath to create textured patterns and shimmering mirages of melodies. I am not usually a fan of drone-like ambient music, as it zones me out into boredom. The harp adds a lot of musical interest and nuance, and so I’m far more interested and invested in this style of ambience.

‘Departure’ is out on Wednesday, 28th May. You can pre-order it on Bandcamp.
