
Composer and singer Michael Aston is known as KNIGHTSTOWN and whilst its shouty capitalisation seems bold and brash, his latest single “Eyes Open Wide” is far more subtle and warm. It’s a curious blend of symphonic strings, a lush mesh of vocals (with some impressive falsetto in there) and some fuzzy electronica. What I found really interesting was that Aston sites the Fez soundtrack, from the fantastic Disasterpeace, as one of his influences for this solo project and you can hear the game music production and soft pixel pastels seeping through.
