Helga Arvesten has a voice that hints at her Scandinavian roots with her nuances and inflection, but also with her intensity of her tone. The dramatic organs, thundering drum beat, and dramatic pop sensibilities remind me in part of early Bjork, but in mood only. Throughout December she released three singles on consecutive Sundays and I’ve chosen “Don’t Speak” as the one to share with you all as it encompasses the urgency Arvesten has. All three are great though and I think we have a budding star in the making.
