Straddling genres like its a new challenge from Takeshi’s Castle, Between Suns is wonderfully undefiable. Whilst thick psychedelic rock is absolutely the basis of their single ‘Sun Ra’, its paired with huge pop diva vocals and flaunts with Eastern promises too. Guitarist Paul gets to shine with his instruments and songwriting and vocalist Nausicaa blasts every note with passion and plea. Having heard other songs, the band also push towards disco-rock with guest rappers and all kinds of things.
Enjoy the music video for ‘Sun Ra’ below, which is my favourite of their tracks to date. I’ll be very interested to see how all these genres combine into a cohesive album or EP. It’s been a while since I’ve come across a duo that really does cross the musical spectrum.
