Introducing… Shortwave Research Group

Throbbing dystopian 3am vibes

Who likes their ambient full of tribal industrial sounds of isolation and emptiness? Put your hands down – Shortwave Research Group has you covered. The Central European based team are due to release their third album ‘Fabryka’ on the 8th of May. Their sound is a mixture of tense film soundtracks, 65daysofstatic and a little bit of industrial tribalism. Their new single ‘Perpetual Midnight’ shows off all three of these elements perfectly too. It creates a track that feels tense but liberating at the same time.

Shortwave Research Group say that the album is about isolation and alienation. They were inspired by the 3am walkers of this world – seeing usually busy urban areas empty and barren. Again, the band may have hit a nail on the head with timing because I’ve not been outside for weeks! ‘Fabryka’ could very well be my early hours’ soundtrack for pandemic isolation! Enjoy the beautifully hypnotic music video for ‘Perpetual Midnight’ below. The single is out now – gotta love a dystopia!
