Getting all kinds of accolades from her German press, Sofia Portanet has been hailed as one of the brightest future stars of German music. Sofia mixes together pop sensibilities with dream rock. The result is music that feels immediate, catchy and has an artistic razor edge to it too. It feels a little quirky in places and definitely of her homeland too. She’d be ripe for the new artistic Eurovision slant too.
Her latest single is ‘Art Deco’ which thrashes out the riffs to her murmuring vocals but other singles show off a much wider vocal range. This is a banger though and the music video is good fun too. ‘Art Deco’ comes from the Sofia Portanet’s forthcoming album Freier Geist this summer. The single is out now. Enjoy the music video below. If you like that, her other single ‘Planet Mars’ reminds me a little of early Tanya Donelly which is never a bad thing!
