Roisin El Cherif is one of the musicians who is criminally underrated. She consistently puts out belters that wreck your heart, connect spiritually or make you stand tall. Her last album ‘The Glass House’ I discovered too late for it to make my top album lists of that year but it definitely deserved a place on that list. The Irish Palestinian singer/songwriter is back in 2020 with a new single ‘Cross Your Mind’. It infuses the alt-pop vibes I love alongside some more deeper connections with lyrics of reflection and wonder.
‘Cross Your Mind’ was recorded when Roisin visited Jordan for three months to reconnect with old roots. It appears to have been a fruitful time for her and I’m looking forward to any future EP’s or LP’s coming over the horizon soon. Also, as a fun side note, when she isn’t making music, she works in the film industry. She was involved with the show Vikings and was trainee assistant director in one of my favourite films ‘The Lobster’ (which is utterly mad by the way). Enjoy the single below – its out now.
