Having released her debut album ‘Awake’ in 2018, Caoilfhionn Rose nailed that ethereal folk feel whilst feeling luxurious and full-bodied. I thoroughly enjoyed the album as it was a real grower over time. I’m delighted that she is returning with a new album ‘Truly’ and its due for release on the 9th of April. Staying in the same realms of hazy otherworldly folk-rock, her latest single ‘Fireflies’ shows off her ability to weave a curious melody alongside gliding vocals and sounds. ‘Truly’ is an album born out of illness. Rose was touring and due to hit Denmark when she had to cancel due to illness. After several weeks in hospital, Caoilfhionn took the rest of the year out of music to recover. Having started making the album before falling ill, she then returned to it with a new level of appreciation and humbleness for being able to make music at all.
To top it all off, ‘Fireflies’ has an absolutely beautiful music video. Made up of 3D particle effects, the viewer moves through various scenes using glowing lights that could be stars, orbs or indeed fireflies themselves. It really matches the dreamy sound Caoilfhionn has made and you can enjoy it below. Also, as I know readers will be wondering – it is pronounced ‘Keelin’! It is also worth noting the album is co=produced by fellow Gondwana Records artist Matthew Halsall.
Enjoy ‘Fireflies’ below – the album is available for pre-order now.
