Bird Boy hails from Philadelphia and has the most wonderfully literal name I’ve found in music over the last few years. Bird Boy records bird tweets and then puts them to lo-fi hip-hop beats to relax to. The whole project is so wholesome. I simply love it and it was the best thing I accidentally discovered last Bandcamp Friday. Apart from that though, I know nothing and can find nothing else out about this lovely new musician!
So far at the time of writing, Bird Boy has made four tracks and each one is beautiful. We have the mellow whizzy whee’s of a Widgeon and the marching chirp of a Black-Capped Chickkadee. We also have uplifting whistles of a Robin and the serene Oriole. I’m sure there is plenty of artistic pitch shifts involved but I find the whole project heartwarming and fascinating. Long may the wings soar.
Enjoy ‘Black-Capped Chickkadee’ below. Don’t forget to chirp yourself up afterwards. I’d also be interested if you have birds at home – did they talk back?
