It isn’t often I really enjoy and get into a country saturated piece of music but Cory Williams got me. With his new single ‘I Hope You Do’, he mixes country twangs with driving rock passion to create a strong and striding single. It is the lead single from his new album ‘Bird Mouth’ which is releasing on the 14th May. The album, much like this song, focuses on memoirs of a breakup and mixes it with the passion and hope of starting a new relationship too. Cory Williams has got members from Band of Heathens to give the album a full rock vibe and they’ve clearly meshed very well together. If ‘I Hope You Do’ is any measure of the success, then we have a great open road album on our hands.
Fans of artists like Gregory Douglass and Gregory Laswell will lap this music up. Enjoy the lyric video for ‘I Hope You Do’ below and try not to do a dramatic leg slap or foot stomp on that ‘dum-dum’ at the end of each phrase.
