Whilst I’ve enjoyed the huge synthwave revival over the last few years, it has made me a little choosy over different sub-genres of synthwave. Introducing Jenny Palacios then – who mashes up that 80’s synth vibe with muddy early 2000’s emo rock. Jenny has Vietnemese, Peruvian and Canadian heritage and currently resides in Toronto. She has a very specific grungy haze to her synths, voice and beats that give it an indie hue without cracking out tons of guitars. It really piqued my ears and my interest.
‘Convenient’ is the latest single. Jenny Palacios says she is inspired from her mothers teachings and her emo roots and that shines through. There’s no announced EP or LP yet but stay tuned, she’s on a roll. Enjoy the track below.
