Sylvette returns with excellent new single

My favourite rockers of 2020 return with a sensitive ballad.

Sylvette came out with one of my favourite albums of 2020. ‘Stiller Than Still’ packed more crazy, artistic, inventive emotion into a rock album than I’ve heard in years. The band are back with a new track called ‘Blanket of Dust’ which is out now. Switching it up, ‘Blanket of Dust’ is a quiet and sensitive ballad of introspective guitar, strings and voice. The song is inspired by the film ‘Shadowlands’ in which C.S. Lewis has a deep personal transformation following the passing of his wife.

‘Blanket of Dust’ is heavy in some ways but also with a sanguine reflective tone too. There is a pregnant pause before its outro thirty seconds as if Sylvette are asking you to take stock before you move forward. The outro itself is gentile and delicate as if neatly tying a bow on a personal experience with a knowing nod. It is another slice of superb musical craftsmanship from Sylvette who refuse to stand still. You can grab the single over on Spotify now.
