Icarus Phoenix is the moniker for Drew Danburry. A prolific singer-songwriter with over 20 albums, 13 EPs and 400 songs to his name, he has toured and run his music independently since 2002. Alongside this, he is a filmmaker, barber, skateboarder and self-confessed geek. A busy bird indeed! Under his Icarus Phoenix guise, he is releasing his second album ‘No tree can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell’ later this year. It should continue his indie singer-songwriter vibe for guitar hooks and relatable lyrics alongside his world-weary vocals.
The new single ‘Anthem’ comes complete with a Lego stop motion video! Created by Drew’s 12-year-old nephew, I find the whole concept absolutely adorable. I never had the patience to pick up stop motion but always appreciate the craft – it takes so much time to complete! It also fits the moody downbeat track really well too. Enjoy the video for ‘Anthem’ below.
