Punk-pop artist Maya Malkin brings plenty of big rock energy with her power chords and anthemic choruses. The Toronto based musician says her new single “Hypocrite” is about the beginning of the end of a relationship taking you to that tipping point moment of ending it. Running alongside the lyrical boiling point are rocking guitars and heavy drums that convey pop sensibilities without being full-on bubblegum rock. That’s a difficult vibe to pull off sometimes by Maya Malkin manages it with ease. Think 2022 Avril Lavigne perhaps as a very loose reference point.
Whilst some of Maya’s previous singles are a little more pop focused, I hope there is room on her future debut album for more of this punk-pop as she clearly excels with it. Enjoy the track “Hypocrite” below, the single is out now. Maya Malkin is currently working on her debut album so the best way to stay in touch on progress is via her website.
