Forgiveness is the name of Gondwana Records’ latest trio and if you enjoy new jazz, you’ll perhaps know some of the names. Jack Wylie (Portico Quartet), JQ and Richard Pike (PVT) make up the trio and their sound vibes their previous vibes to a degree too. Their single “Rainbird” is a beautifully calming mixture of tuned percussion synths, soprano saxophone and a whole lot of flute. It is as serene as it is full of vivid audio imagery. You can hear the bird full of life, gliding in slow motion to an extent – the music is ambient cinematic jazz. Forgiveness say they want their music to convey a sense of “endorphin-flushed tranquillity”. Surely anyone suffering from the menopause would jump at being flushed that way…
“Rainbird” is taken from Forgiveness’ forthcoming debut album “Next Time Could be Your Last Time”. The album is scheduled for release on the 3rd of June, will feature 11 tracks and sounds like a must-have for fans of any of the trio’s other projects. The single can be heard below and pre-orders are now available.
