Mixing together grunge, indie and a garage rock vibe, Young Winona returns with new single “Sadistic”. It is a driven piece that reminds me a little of Elastica because of the shouty and dirty grained vocals for the verses and big chord choruses. Young Winona are way more furious, as vocalist Cassie switches between listing ways she’ll kill you to the sweet release of admitting her sadistic nature.
It’s the second single Yong Winona have released this year, following March’s “Red Dress” and continues to highlight the trio as ones to watch in the LA music scene and beyond. As they’ve been releasing singles over the last year, I’d expect an EP or LP to be in the works, although nothing has been announced or confirmed yet. I’m in need of their mid 90’s grungy feel!
Enjoy “Sadistic” below, it’s out now. For more information on Young Winona, follow them on Bandcamp.
