Jesca Hoop returns with new single and forthcoming album “Order of Romance”

Alternative folkster returns with new work and John Parish providing support.

A musician who can always be counted to bring out off-kilter rock with unusual time signatures is Jesca Hoop. Following on from her 2019 album “Stonechild”, Jesca is returning with a new album “Order of Romance”. The album is due for release on the 16th of September and was created over the last two summers during the pandemic. Jesca says that she’s found she was growing as a person and discovering new reveals about herself. The concept of harvesting, growth and bountiful harvests seems to have translated into a glistening burst of energetic joy as her new single “Hatred Has a Mother” is full of flavour.

The single “Hatred Has a Mother” is a shape-shifting mix of chaotic rolling drums, vocal harmonies, guitars and brass that burst out like sun rays. Even if the title of the song may be a bit sad, the music itself is bountiful. With the crazy time signatures and drums, it’s no surprise John Parish is involved in the recording. Alongside the music, Jesca Hoop hints at future collaborations with artist Sophie Darling who provides the album artwork too.

Enjoy “Hatred Has a Mother” below, the single is out now. You can preorder the album “Order of Romance” on Bandcamp. Jesca Hoop has also announced a UK and EU tour from November 2022 and more details about that are on her website and mailing list. (If you are going to the London ones reach out – I might be there too!)
