Dutch singer-songwriter Chantal Acda has teamed up with Italian composer Bruno Bavota to create “A Closer Distance”. It is a collaborative album that brings their mutual love of piano, orchestral folk and chamber pop. Acda has produced some beautifully intimate and fragile albums over the years and Bavota specialises in elegant piano works, so for Higher Plain Music, this is a potential match made in heaven! According to Chantal Acda and Bruno Bavota, originally the collaboration was meant to just be a three-track EP. They found it so effortlessly easy to collaborate and be musically in sync, that suddenly an entire ten-track album was born.
The album will see Bruno Bavota take charge of the piano and pair it with Chantal Acda’s vocals and very little else will be present. The concept of the album is to evoke the intimacy of creative creation. The whole project was created over Covid and so the collaboration was long distance but with lead single “Still I”, you’d never know. It’s a beautiful track that gives you the perfect insight into the album.
Enjoy the music video for “Still I” below. The single is out now and the album “A Closer Distance” is available to pre-order on Bandcamp.
