Irish singer-songwriter Holly Munro knows something about being part of a musical family. She is the sister to folk duo Hudson Taylor, and whilst you’ll hear some folk influences in her songwriting, her style is much more electric indie pop first. Having performed backing vocals for her brothers and for Hozier, Holly is now forging her own path, citing FKA Twigs and Bjork as two influences although you won’t make those immediate connections on her new single ‘Glow Up’.
‘Glow Up’ is about moments of self-doubt and remembering that everyone has their own unique beauty, even if we forget it. Holly Munro says the song is like two friends having a heart-to-heart about that situation and coming away from it like you’ve had a bit of a pep talk. The uplifting vocals match the slow burn of the keyboards, synth bass and lazy low-swing drums and I can imagine a lot of trip-hop fans really enjoying the single.
Enjoy the video for ‘Glow Up’ below, the single is out now. It is taken from the forthcoming debut EP ‘Up Against Your Nature’ which is due for release on the 3rd November. For more information on all things Holly Munro, visit her linktree.
