Introducing… Asteroid Witch

Guitar riffs from outer space collide with psychedelia with this new band from Portland

I do find it funny when a band’s bio speaks like they’ve descended on the Earth from another planet. That’s how Asteroid Witch, a four-piece heavy psychedelic doom rockers describe themselves. I quote “Forged in the nucleus of a distant black hole and teleported to Portland, Oregon in 2021 AD, Asteroid Witch is a conduit for the psychic communication of celestial Demi-Gods from deep space.” In reality, it means they crank out some absolutely superb psych-rock riffs that sound like peak 1970s psychedelia but with a messier grungy grizzle to it. Asteroid Witch calls it Cosmic Doom Metal. I guess what they say about people from Portland is true. I need to visit ASAP…

Their debut release is the excellent almost instrumental ‘Time Crystal / Mind Prism’. It shifts effortlessly from heavy riffs to guitar solos to grungy outro and I really clicked with it immediately. As a way to introduce Asteroid Witch, they are doing a split single with fellow psych rock band Greenseeker. Each band will bring three songs to their side of the single and it is a great way for bands of similar sounds to find common fans and audiences.

Enjoy ‘Time Crystal / Mind Prism’ below, the single is out now. For more info on all things Asteroid Witch as they prepare for the single is available for preorder from 21st September ahead of its November release, follow them on Instagram.
