Introducing… Kevin le Pennec

I recently discovered there is a World Harp Competition where musicians can “compete” as a live performance to wow the crowds and jury with their harp skills, songcraft and performance. Kevin le Pennec won first prize alongside the Audience Award for his magical Breton performances. Performing with his harp, he sings in Breton of love, his brother, social masks and not fitting in. His part skills and rhythm are absolutely superb but it’s the emotion he carries with his melodies and performance which drew me in.

Kevin le Pennec doesn’t seem to have much music that I could find readily available to purchase but you can get his solo album ‘A Distance’ through his website. Kevin has said that he doesn’t usually commit to writing and performing songs in a set structure so if his magical winning performance grabs your attention, catch him as he tours. You lucky French folk! In the meantime, enjoy his World Harp Festival performance which earned his top prize below.
