Canadian indie artist Marlaena Moore creates fantastic rock music. Her latest single ‘Hungry For God’ is a slice of peak MTV rock anthems. The off-kilter guitar twangs, big drums and cinematic keyboards under the grit make it an instant classic in the making. The lyrics speak of yearning to belong and being satisfied in a modern world. Fans of Nadine Shah, Mitski and late 90’s PJ Harvey will feel right at home with this guitar-forward track.
Marlaena Moore says she has been on a creative journey over her years of making music as more opportunities and production choices become available to her. Jumping from catchy bedroom recordings to maximalist sprawling productions has let Moore stretch her sonic production muscles. Now for her current work, Marlaena is focused on bringing both sides together. ‘Hungry For God’ is the third single of this yet unannounced and untitled era but I’d expect an album soon given the release schedule so far.
