B O D I E S is an 8-piece female vocal group led by Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist Kat Frankie. The project is based in Berlin and began from the seeds of Kat’s solo music where she would loop her own vocals on live performances. Over time, these looped arrangements became a full project. There are no instruments – only eight voices singing in harmony.
One of the nuances of B O D I E S is that Kat has refused to select any lead melodies or voices for the compositions. Instead, each song merges together the voices in harmony so they envelop you in a feeling rather than bring a typical song structure. B O D I E S comprises an exceptional lineup of artists alongside Frankie with Albertine Sarges, Barbara Greshake, Erika Emerson, Fama M’Boup, Liza Wolowicz, Tara Nome Doyle and Trinidad Doherty. Each is a solo artist in their own right so you’ll hear moments where each singer shines to lead the collective to a feeling.
