Danish singer-songwriter Victoria Akua has released some blissfully delicate and calming indie folk pop singles over the last few months. Victoria has a serene voice that calmly floats over the acoustic guitar, lending herself well to the meditative place that her music often comes from. I think fans of Ayla Nereo and Ayla Schafer would feel immediately at home here. Victoria Akua melds together the essence of medicine music with folk-pop sensibilities.
‘The River’ is Victoria Akua’s latest single. Akua says the song is “a celebration of friendship and connection.” She began writing the song in 2018, and seven years later, we are getting the fully recorded version. During that time, Victoria’s friends called it ‘The Friendship Song’, and that holds true as three of her closest friends sing with her on it.
Enjoy ‘The River’ with all the uplifting joy it provides, the single is out now. For more information on her music, visit Victoria Akua’s website.
