Introducing… Domi Hawken

Running the gamut of heavy, gritty rock anthems designed to get you rowdy, to stripped-back folk ballads, London’s Domi Hawken returned with her new EP ‘Water and The Wine’ last month. The three-track EP covers a lot of ground and reminds me KT Tunstall. The pair share similar verve and energy to their guitar playing, and a knack for a rowdy, anthemic chorus. Add in some edgier guitar solos and some hazy effects on the folkier side, and you’ve got Domi Hawken’s latest EP nailed down.

The title track is the jewel in the crown. ‘Water And The Wine’ is a stompy, crowd pleaser, with defiant, dirty vocals and precision guitar bursts. The black and white music video places Domi Hawken in that 1970’s era of the artist. When showcasing your craft in a raw state was a badge of pride. It all works so well.

‘Water And The Wine’ is out now. For more information on Domi Hawken, visit her YouTube,
