Introducing… Dubh Lee

Dubh Lee is a singer-songwriter who’s been on the Dublin music scene for the last seven years. She’s been gaining a following with live music, online covers, and lending her voice to various hop-hop and DnB artists. Her solo work is in the acoustic folk, guitar rock world, with the odd nod to country and Americana.

‘My Poor Boy’ is her Dubh Lee’s new single, which is her most Cowboy Western track to date. A strong guitar motif plays out with retro Southern organs backing it up to provide a syrupy desert vibe. Add in Lee’s reflective vocals, and you have a tight-knit hit in waiting. Citing Aldous Harding and Marvin Gaye as influences, she wrote it in 2023 about an imaginary dog having to follow around Dubh’s poor life choices at her feet. Lee was in a love triangle at the time, with neither love interests turning out to be good choices for her. “I felt pathetic and the lyrics are trying to get at that type of feeling – like a dog that has been kicked”, she says.

‘My Poor Boy’ is out now. It is taken from the forthcoming EP ‘UFO’, which is due out later this year. For more information on Dubh Lee, visit her Linktree.
