Celebrating their 24th birthday as a label, Alfa Matrix has released ‘Matrix+ Downloaded 012’, a whopping 69-track compilation of dark electronic music that the label supports. It selects music from across the decades and provides exclusive songs and remixes that are only found on this release. It is available as pay-what-you-want on Bandcamp.
Alfa Matrix is a label I discovered through Bandcamp, and I’ve dipped into their catalogue quite a bit over the last 5-6 years. They are a label that always provides a darker, sharper, harder, colder cut of electronic or post-rock music, and so I often discover new surprises each release week. ‘Matrix+ Downloaded 012’ showcases Alfa Matrix’s musical range from EBM (electronic body music), synth pop, industrial and dark electro, to the new post-punk, goth rock and coldwave sound of their new Spleen+ division. What particularly resonated with me, on World Album Weekend, is part of the message that came from their email newsletter:
