Introducing… Felix Antonio

If Bon Iver and Phoebe Bridgers had a French love affair... Felix Antonio might be their love child.

If Bon Iver and Phoebe Bridgers had a French lovechild, perhaps Felix Antonio would be it. For his first single on the excellent InFiné music label (I’ve been discovering all kinds of great artists on InFiné this year), Felix Antonio aims straight for your sentimental, warm honeyed heart. ‘Waiting for the Sun to Rise’ mixes together acoustic guitar and mandolin to create a European antidote to banjo folk-rock. Mandolins are slightly lighter and less twangy, and when paired with Felix’s soft and tender vocals, you’ve got an Autumn winner. I’m reminded heavily of Tom Rosenthal tonally and vocally.

Felix Antonio was engaged in music from an early age. He learned to play the clarinet, piano, and guitar and discovered Britpop, new wave, and folk music in his teenage years. Now in his mid-20s, he’s putting all those influences and musical instruments to good use as he embarks on a singer-songwriter career.

‘Waiting for the Sun to Rise’ is out now. I love the dewy, autumnal hope that it brings. Gently uplifting and quietly euphoric, I’m looking forward to hearing more from Felix. He has been releasing music for several years, but it is quite tricky to find a decent discography of purchasable music! For more information about Felix Antonio, follow him on Instagram.
