Ladytron announce 8th studio album with new single ‘Kingdom Undersea’

Ladytron gives us their version of disco, for their most danceable album yet.

After celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album Witching Hour, UK electronic pop-rockers Ladytron have announced their 8th studio album ‘Paradises’ will be released on 20th March 2026. Alongside the announcement, their new single ‘Kingdom Undersea’ showcases their subtle change in direction.

The new album was written and recorded over five months in late 2023, and then finalised earlier this year. Ladytron wrote the album in intense studio sessions, fleshing out the bones of tracks in a couple of hours. ‘Paradises’ will feature 16 tracks and be Ladytron’s most dance-oriented record since ‘Light & Magic’. That said, the band says fun was the main driver. Speaking about the album, Daniel Hunt said:

There’s an itch we never scratched, which is that despite our origins in the DJ world, we never actually made a ‘disco’ record. Albeit, ‘disco’ in our context has a somewhat different meaning.

Taking that into their new single ‘Kingdom Undersea’, we get bright pianos, dual vocal layers, 80s-style drum machines, and a striking hybrid of retro-future electronic pop. There is a maximalist approach to beats and rhythms, whilst the keyboards create a musical fascia of different decades, all interconnected. It is a total earworm, and I am thoroughly looking forward to the album release.
