French chanteuse Camille announces first solo album in nine years

A sublime ode to planet Earth.

French chanteuse Camille has announced her first solo album since 2017’s stunning ‘Oui‘, and Higher Plain Music is so very ready! Titled ‘The Sound of Milk’, I’m not sure if it’s a nod to the saucy ‘Fountain Au Lait’ from her previous album, or more about the life that milk and the world around us provide. Over recent years, Camille has been working on sound installations called the LALÀLIVE, documenting workshops and performances on video. Camille invites participants to sing with her, arranging them into a moving choir of sound. With locations and the natural world featuring heavily in LALÀLIVE’s output, and Camille previously writing songs such as ‘Seeds’ about looking after our planet, Earth seems to be the focus of the forthcoming album.

‘La Terre’ (the Earth) is the title of the lead single. It features Camille’s trademark vocal layering to create most of the instrumentation. Double bass and strings back up the vocals, providing a sumptuous, whimsical ode to our planet. The lyrics detail the cycle of water, air, seasons, and love, ending on the declaration that a loving planet is a paradise. It is a tender, gentle song, and the soft, pillowy outro sounds like an aural paradise. I’m very excited to hear how the rest of the album plays out. A dreamy music video accompanies the track, acting like a breath of fresh air.

The single is out now, with ‘The Sound of Milk’ slated for release in September this year. The exact date is yet to be confirmed. For more information about the tour, workshops, and the album release, visit Camille’s website. I’m anticipating this will be my healing album for 2026.
