Someone has spent too long alone on an abandoned planet…
Drone like textures, aural synth pads, rhythmic beats and pulsating melodies circle around Matthew Wilcock and his nine-minute single ‘TEAR’. Reminding me of Adam Fielding in how he builds up synthetic sounds and then layers over something real, in this case, piano, over the top – it’s beauty is in its elegance, vastness and deceptive simplicity. There’s plenty going on, but you won’t initially notice.
‘TEAR’ comes from Matthew Wilcock’s debut album which is currently penciled in for release some time in 2019, although that’s subject to change. Until then we can enjoy the superb slice of chilled out electronica below.
