There is a comment in the YouTube comments which says ‘In all other countries the music videos need fast cars and hot women… the Scandinavian artists only need to show their badass nature’. I completely agree. Wardruna, the stunningly cathartic and Nordic band steep their music in traditional elements, from the instruments to the lyrics to the imagery. They sit among the pantheon of the finest of what I term ‘Pagan Folk’ and ‘Nordic Folk’ bands and their new single Kvitravn showcases that. Not only do we get a fine song, we get to wander the coast and woods of Scandinavia.
Kvitravn is also the title of Wardruna’s forthcoming album, due to be released in January 2021. I am super excited for it as it’ll be a great way to enter into a new year and purge the heck out of 2020! Enjoy the stunning music video below.
