It isn’t often I am introducing a new artist to the website as they release their ninth studio album but here we are! Eivør is a Faroese electronica artist who moved to Iceland at a very young age. Releasing her debut album at just 17, she has been prolific ever since, including being the only non-native to win the Icelandic Music Prize… twice! Eivør made her UK commercial debut in 2017 and her new album ‘Segl’ is the follow up to this. The sound straddles mainstream pop tropes with a few quirky tricks up her sleeve. There is also an element of folk song that floats throughout her music too which I personally love.
Eivør’s new single ‘Only Love’ features Ásgeir as a guest vocalist – who is also a powerhouse in the folk gone huge world. Together they sing like a floating wave over the beats and synths and its one of those songs that gets into your head without you knowing it. Enjoy the beautiful music video below. ‘Segl’ and the single ‘Only Love’ are both out now.
