Live Vault – Ibeyi

Rousing and uplifting Cuban fused rhythms.

Afro-French Cuban duo Ibeyi are a powerhouse as a live act. They’ve released some performances recorded from the end of their 2019 ‘Ash’ tour onto YouTube this week and they are a goldmine of power, passion and rhythm. The extra treat here is that Ibeyi are performing with the Metropole Orkest. This adds a rich string background to their synths and beats along with a belting choir too.

Enjoy ‘Deathless’, ‘Mama Said’, ‘When Will I Learn’, Cleo, Who Takes Care of You’ and non-studio track ‘Rise Up, Wise Up, Eyes Up’ – which is a phenomenally uplifting song from Hamilton, below. Their last album was in 2017 so hopefully, Ibeyi will be back with some new emotionally charged grooves and belters soon.
