I’m delighted to announce that Higher Plain Music Radio will be returning soon, as a pre-recorded show instead of a 24/7 radio show. The premiere show will be coming in a couple of weeks time.
I’ve spent the last few months exploring different options to relaunch Higher Plain Music Radio. Spotify does not treat artists fairly and so that doesn’t appeal to me. 24/7 radio broadcasters such as Radio.co and Live365 become very expensive very quickly and require regional licencing which, as a one-man band running entirely on reader and viewer donations, is not feasible. I have now settled on Mixcloud for a few reasons.
- It pays royalties out for each play in accordance with UK royalty laws.
- It allows me to upload focused and structured radio-styled shows for an entry-level price (£9.99 a month) that I can afford.
- Everyone can listen for free to each show.
- If you choose to become a premium Mixcloud user, you can choose to give a part of your subscription payment to Higher Plain Music to support the website and radio station.
For the longer-term future, I see this radio show joining up with the upcoming musician interview podcasts I have planned to give you plenty of audio content to keep visitors to Higher Plain Music happy. With Higher Plain Records then taking form over the next few months too, I think the second half of 2021 will be a bright, varied and exciting one.
