Introducing… Maida Rose

A Dutch take on talking about depression.

‘Every Day is Blue’ is a song about being misunderstood when feeling depressed. Depression is something Maida Rose lead singer Roos has dealt with before. “I remember that I found it really challenging to communicate with friends and family who clearly had no idea of what it was like. They tried their best to say the right thing and to cheer me up, but it sometimes felt like they were unconsciously trivialising the state that I was in.”

It’s a surprise then that Dutch indie-pop duo Maida Rose decided to make the track a playful uptempo number. Combining dream-pop lush guitars and synths with indie drums and a powerful singer-songwriter voice, Maida Rose has been releasing various singles across 2021. They spent five years recording their debut album in Javier’s childhood attic. The fruits of their labours will come out in 2022. The album is titled ‘Tales of Adolescence’ and it sounds like it will be a cracker.
