Introducing… Monsoon

Indie rockers return back to music on their own terms.

Three piece indie rockers Monsoon have been quiet for the last five years. From Georgia, Monsoon initially had some large success straight out of the gate with placements after the half-time super bowl show and working with Google for their first 360-degree multi-camera music video. After that, the duo went their separate ways to study and travel. Now, fast forward from 2016 to 2021 and Chandler and Joey reconnected after their time apart. Whilst there was no specific falling out, they said the early success meant so many people stuck their noses in, it didn’t really feel like their creation anymore. It sounds like a case of corporate death by committee to me but the band aren’t bitter, they are revitalised.

‘Don’t Move’ is the first single from their forthcoming album ‘Ghost Party’. It marks a new era, a slight turn of rock direction towards something they feel they can own because it is built on the sadness of what has been before. The idea is that the album is a world to comfort you from that real world and its harsh reality. Expanding to a trio under their new second life makes things fresh too. The album isn’t due out until winter 2022 but you can grab the single and the video for ‘Don’t Move’ below. It’s out now.

To keep up with Monsoon you can visit their website for release and gig news.

  1. Simon,
Thank you for your thoughtful review of Dont Move. It really means so much to us on the home front. We’re sending good vibes to your parents and keeping them in our thoughts.

Thank you for creating such a wonderful platform for undiscovered music.
    Sienna Chandler
