Introducing… Jonathan Kawchuk

A sensory experience of nature sounds and the human voice.

Jonathan Kawchuk has been working on his new project for nearly eight years. The composer has been working with field recordings to capture the sound of nature, animals, weather and the world around us. He then took these samples to re-record them all for Dolby Atmos so that his music could feel like a 3D experience that surrounds you. The result of all this meticulous work can be heard on the lead single “Solar Plexus”. It is a calming mix of vocal hums and coo’s alongside a spatial palette of the wild earth. It is usually hypnotic and feels like ASMR: Wild Ambient Mix. it is beautifully put together.

To accompany the track, “Solar Plexus” has a beautiful music video involving glass trees to show how music is reflected and refracted. The single is out now and is taken from Jonathan Kawchuk’s forthcoming album “Everywhen” which is due for release on the 10th of June. For more on Jonathan’s music, visit his superb website. On his welcome page, one of his songs is broken into stems that you can phase in and out of by moving your mouse cursor around the screen. Also, as a fan of data visualisation – I love how his credits page is laid out too. I’ll leave you with the excellent music whilst I geek out on his site!
