LA Producer Nosaj Thing is returning with his fifth album “Continua” and to celebrate that he has collaborated with Juliana Barwick on the new single “Blue Hour”. It isn’t the first time the two have worked together. Juliette appeared on his 2021 album “Healing is a Miricle”. For me, “Blue Hour” gives me heavy Massive Attack “Teardrop” vibes but with a softer vocal delivery and a focus on tape-warbled synths. The whole track is an absolute gem from start to end. It is so understated throughout that it ends up being quietly devastating. Everything from the vocals to the synths, the heartbeat kick drum and the distant guitarist fuzz towards the end – its perfection.
Whilst no details for release dates for “Continua” are available yet, “Blue Hour ft Julianna Barwick” is out now. I’m totally new to Nosaj Thing and he has a 16-year back catalogue that I’m absolutely going to dive into in 3…2…1… You can find out more about Nosaj Thing by using his DSP list.
