Introducing… BLVL

Anonymous French rockers adds some fun disco drum loops to their coldwave guitars.

No one quite knows the identity of French hardcore rock band BLVL but I know one thing – their new single ‘Lion’s Claw’ is absolutely superb. The band balance the power and aggression of coldwave guitar riffs, hardcore rock trapping and then adds some really funky disco drum loops over the top. The single is so densely packed and has surges of energy that just take the listener over.

Complementing the song is an excellent music video directed by Kendy Ty. Following a girl with a Walkman who hides inside her world of music to survive the real world. BLVL said that the character in the video uses her Walkman and headphones as a mask in a similar way to how the band wears masks too.

‘Lion’s Claw’ is the lead single from BLVL’s debut album, following on from 2 previous EPs. The album will be called ‘Martha’ and marks a heavier sound compared to their more atmospheric-infused earlier releases. The album is currently slated for an Autumn release. Until then, enjoy the single below and you can find out more about BLVL on Bandcamp.
