Live Vault – Kalya Scintilla

The Ozora Dome in Dádpuszta, Hungary, is a fantastic venue for anything world fusion or psychedelic, and Kalya Scintilla made sure to utilise the venue and its vibe to full effect. Kalya Scintilla runs the Merkaba record label, where I find endless inspiration for downtempo, world fusion electronica, and psybient music. Often mixing together ancient instruments with dancefloor grooves, Kalya’s music is perfect for the festival and retreat arenas. It is slightly slower in pace than many other artists, so it’s good for the early afternoon or early hours. Scintilla is also more bass-driven than other artists, so expect your subwoofers to take a hammering.

Kalya Scintilla has recently released two related Part 1 and 2 albums, entitled ‘Tales From The Path’. You can hear his extensive back catalogue on Bandcamp. In the meantime, put the lights on low and relax to two hours of world fusion electronica from one of the smoothest sets I’ve heard in a while. I’d also like to know how to apply for the job of the lady sitting and chilling on stage. I could do that for half the price.

The Ozora Festival takes place annually in Hungary. Visit the Ozora Festival website for more details, but beware, the background is a psychedelic, kaleidoscopic image. It is not very accessible!

[Edit: It’s not the first time I’ve decided Kalya’s name is Kayla! It’s a mental block, my apologies – corrected now]

    1. Thank you, I’ve corrected it now. This isn’t even the first time I’ve done this mistake. I think I have mental block! I blame being in hospital this time, haha.
