Cocoa Futures’ atypical single “Sink in the Water” intrigued me on first listen, not immediately because of its melodies, but because of the way it sounds. There’s a Peter Gabriel vocal vibe, but there’s also a really clever use of production which lets the track constantly change and evolve. The tracks produced by Brendan Williams who also has worked with GoGo Penguin, whom readers know I love so there’s a synergy there. The first of six new tracks from the London based band to come this year, it’s a clever synthpop/funk hybrid with everything and nothing to say.
