As a huge fan of Vanessa Forero’s previous work, I was delighted to see the British/Columbian folk star has prepared a beautiful single for the Day of the Dead. Titled ‘La Catrina’, the Spanish waltzing folk piece is accompanied by an excellent stop motion puppet music video. It accompanies the track perfectly, which was recorded in just a single take.
I love the way the acoustic guitar and Vanessa’s vocals range from elegant to ferocious and back again in a single sentence and it leaves me longing for more. Vanessa Forero is currently writing new music so hopefully an EP or LP won’t be too far away – however this single is out now. Enjoy the video, and your Day of the Dead, below.
