As a fan already of Pinkshinyultrablast and their shoegazing psychedelia, I was rather excited at the prospect of the Russian trio returning with new music. What I didn’t expect was a single that is 15 minutes long! The sprawling epic track was a b-side of the band which they didn’t quite know what to do with yet they all loved so much. Sometimes the b-sides are often some of an artists’ best work and this track is certainly up there with some of my favourite shoegazing in recent years. ‘Songs’ constantly changes around switching from Cocteau Twins’ ethereality to vicious ear-bleeding power chords.
Enjoy ‘Songs’ below – its out to buy now. Now… I wonder if they can get a music anime made with the same name?
