Introducing… Brendan Scott Friel

Indie folktronica that is full of immersion.

If you are going to do soft voiced male indie-folk, then go all in by making everything feel like a sepia smeared hug out to emotionally challenge you. Brendan Scott Friel does just that with his new single ‘All In’. Whilst Brendan has a lovely, hushed and dreamy voice that can wax on folksy music for days on end, it’s the songwriting and production that draws me in. Everything from the tiny guitar twinkles to the crunchy drums and the mellotron organs get me. It is breathy, hazy but still has a drive to it. That is quite difficult to achieve so hats of to Brendan and his producer James Bunton for nailing this flavour of indie-pop. There are also tons of layers of sound to work through too. The electric guitar work at the end mixes with the heavy synthgaze blurs beautifully.

‘All In’ is the latest single for Brendan Scott Friel’s new album ‘Summer Moons’ which came out at the end of April. It a beautiful mix of acoustic laments and heavy mood indie folk that you can get lost in. I’ll be picking it up for review later in the year. Enjoy ‘All In’ below.
