Kee Avil is a musical project created by Vicky Mettler. It combines guitars, electroacoustics and electronic production to create a nu-metal tinged horror soundtrack. Think Gazelle Twin taking a guitar to a party and you are somewhere in the ballpark. Kee Avil’s sound is very intense. From the filtered vocals to sound like a pained ghost to the scratching guitar feedback that is like chalk on a board, it is designed to get under your skin.
Her new single from her forthcoming debut album is titled ‘See, My Shadow’ and it shows Kee Avil’s visual side. Here, much like French artist Olivier de Sagazan, she is piecing flesh and clay back onto her face again as if to cover herself up. It’s pretty creepy so if you don’t like the idea of patchwork faces, listen but keep the video on a small screen! I am loving the musical and art direction of where this is all headed. The single is out now and the album ‘Crease’ is currently slated for a March 2022 release.
